Vision are collections of sketches taken from a number of sketchbooks. I see these as a visual type of liturgy and visionary conversation between the artist, the earth and heaven and the viewer. Liturgy is customary a public ritual, where as these books are private. As a phenomenon, liturgy represents a communal response to and participation in the sacred through activities reflecting praise, thanksgiving, remembrance, supplication, or repentance. It forms a basis for establishing a relationship with God. I’m looking for these books to have a similar, but intimate, function. The books open a dialogue between the images and viewer which, I hope, opens out to personal vision.
